Who runs the app
Danou van Rensburg runs Permaculture App. Kapable hosts it.
What the app keeps
Anyone with an email can sign up. So "everyone signed in" can mean anyone.
| What the app keeps, and why | Who can see it | How long it stays |
|---|---|---|
| Your email addressTo send the emails you switched on, and so an admin knows who a member is. | You and the app's admins. | Until you delete your account. |
| Your profileName, username, pictures, bio, headline, focus, climate zone, location, links, goal (a private target too), tier and tier details, badge, blueprints, counts of followers, supporters and drops harvested, the amounts of tips, whether you are an admin or suspended, and when you joined. It is your page in the community. | Everyone signed in. If you have a public post, anyone can also see your name, your picture, your public posts and, if you chose it from the app's list, your climate zone. Nothing else on your profile is public. Your earnings and drops figures go only to you and admins. A private tip's message goes only to the person it was for. | Until you delete your account. |
| What you postPosts, comments, Bush TV rooms and chat, courses, shop items and reviews. Each carries a copy of your name and picture. This is what the community is for. | A public post and its comments: anyone, without signing in, and search engines. New posts are public unless you choose members only. Everything else, everyone signed in, with limits. A locked room's chat goes only to its owner, its moderators, admins and whoever paid to join. A paid course's lessons or a paid shop file go only to the creator and whoever bought them. A post marked for supporters or VIP goes only to its author and admins. | Until you remove it or delete your account. A public post's page goes at once, but a search engine may keep showing it for days or weeks. |
| Your photos and filesThe app takes location and other hidden details out of a photo when it stores it.To show them. | A photo in a public post, and your picture beside it: anyone. Others: anyone signed in who has the address. A photo sent in a private chat, or named only by locked or paid content, goes only to the people who can open it. | Once nothing uses a photo, it stops showing. The file is destroyed a day or two later. A photo another member's post also uses stays. |
| Who you followTo tell you about new posts from people you follow. | Only you. Your follower count is on your public profile. | Until you change it or delete your account. |
| Private messages, with their photosTo deliver them. | In the app, only the people in the chat. They are not encrypted, so people who run the servers could technically read them. | Until a person in the chat deletes their account. Then that person's words go. Taking a chat off your list only hides it. |
| NotificationsYour choices, the Bush TV rooms you joined, each phone or browser you switched on, your bell, and emails waiting to go.To send what you chose and nothing more. | Only you, through the app. | The bell keeps your newest 100. A waiting line goes when its email goes, within about a week. The rest goes when you delete your account. |
| Rain Drops and paymentsWhat you bought, each spend and each tip that reached you, with Stripe's ids for each purchase. To know your balance and keep payment records. | You. No page shows anyone else's records. | No end date is set. They stay after you delete your account, with your name removed. |
| ReportsWho sent one, who wrote what was reported, a snippet, any photos, the reason and the admin's notes. So admins can act on them. | The owner and admins see every report. A member sees only the ones they sent, without the admin's notes or who it is about. | Until an admin removes them or the account they are about is deleted. |
| Suspensions and admin rightsWho was suspended, by whom and when, and which sign-ins proved they own an admin's email. So a suspension holds, and admin rights go to the right person. | No page shows these records. | Until a suspension is lifted or the account is deleted. |
| Your sign-inA cookie in your browser, which page scripts cannot read. Kapable's sign-in service holds your email, your sessions and its own audit log.To know it is you. | You and Kapable. | The cookie lasts 90 days and renews while you use the app. The sign-in account stays after you delete your account, for now. |
| Copies on your deviceThe shared data, your own profile with your email, your follow list, saved posts, wallet history, course progress, a copy of your chats with Dan, and your theme and sound choices. So the app works offline. | Anyone who can open that browser. | Until you delete your account on that device, or clear the browser. Signing out does not clear it. |
| Logs and backupsThe app's log names profile ids and masks email addresses. To keep the app running and to recover from a failure. | People who run the servers. | Kapable has not yet confirmed how long these last. |
The app keeps no phone number. Phone notifications go to your browser's push address. A post has a count of likes, and the app does not record who liked what.
Public posts and search engines
Your posts are public by default. Anyone can read a public post, its comments and its photos without signing in, and search engines such as Google can list them. You are told this when you sign up and in the post box. One tap makes a post members only, when you write it or at any time after.
When you remove a post or make it members only, its page answers "not found" at once. Google and other search engines may keep showing their own copy for days or weeks. The app cannot reach copies other people or search engines have made.
A new member's first post stays off public view until another member likes it or the app's owner has seen it. Posts made before 4 November 2026 stay members only until their author makes them public. Comments written while a post was members only stay members only.
These are never on a public page: private messages, email addresses, Rain Drops, purchases, members-only and marked posts, locked Bush TV rooms and Dan's answers.
Dan, the Permaculture Robot
Questions and photos you send to Dan go to Google's Gemini, so it can answer. That is true wherever you ask him, in a private chat too.
Since 4 November 2026 the app keeps your private chat with Dan on its server, so his answer reaches any device you use. Only you can read it, it is in your data download, and it goes when you delete your account. A photo you send him stays only until he has answered. His answers in comments, Bush TV and shared chats are saved like anyone's words.
Cookies and scripts
The app sets one cookie of its own to keep you signed in, and a short one while you sign in that remembers the post you were reading. Kapable's hosting sets a routing cookie for an hour. The app has no advertising or analytics scripts, and nothing in it sells your data. The public pages run no scripts and load nothing from other companies. Inside the app, your browser still reaches the companies below.
Other companies involved
- Kapable
- Hosts the app and its data, runs sign-in, and sends the app's email through its mail service, which uses Resend.
- Stripe
- Takes card payments, in test mode today. Card details go to Stripe, and the app never sees them. Stripe keeps its own record, with your profile id, your member id and whatever you give Stripe.
- Google Gemini
- Answers what you ask Dan.
- Google Fonts
- Serves the fonts inside the app, so your browser asks Google for them on each visit. The public pages do not use it.
- Google and other search engines
- Read public posts and list them. They keep their own copies, and each decides when to drop one.
- Cloudflare
- Runs the human check on the sign-in page.
- YouTube and Vimeo
- Play a video in a post. They may set their own cookies when they do.
- Unsplash
- Serves some stock pictures.
- Apple, Google or Mozilla
- Carry phone notifications, with their title and text. Which one depends on your browser.
- Other websites
- A member can link a picture or a file from another website. Your browser then fetches it from that website.
Where your data sits
The app and its database run on servers in the United States. Backup copies may sit on other machines, and Kapable has not yet confirmed where. The companies named above run their own servers.
Download or delete your data
You can do both yourself. In the app, open the menu under your name and choose Your data. The download is one zip file with what the app holds about you, and your photos.
Deleting does not remove everything. This is what happens:
What goes
- Your profile, posts, comments, Bush TV rooms and messages, courses, shop items and reviews.
- Your photos, by the rule above.
- Dan's answers to you, and his tips on your posts.
- Your email in the app, notification settings, follow list, devices, bell and waiting emails.
- Your words and photos in private chats. Your messages then show as "Deleted member".
- Reports about you, and your follow on each count.
- The copy on the device you delete from.
What stays
- What other people wrote, even if it names you.
- Your purchase and drops records, with your name removed. Stripe keeps its own record too.
- Your Rain Drops do not come back. Your wallet closes for good, and what is left goes to Dan's pot, with no name on it.
- Reports you sent, with your name removed, and like counts.
- Your name in some older places where nothing proves whose it is, such as a tip note from before 4 November 2026 or a room's moderator list.
- Your sign-in account at Kapable, for now. The app cannot delete it. Another device stays signed in until it is next used. If you sign in again, from an hour after the deletion, you start a new, empty account with no welcome drops.
- A scrambled row with the date, so an old session cannot bring the account back. It goes after 100 days. If you were suspended it stays, and you come back suspended.
- A scrambled record of Dan's first-post tip, so the same sign-in does not get it twice. It stays for good.
- Copies already outside the app: other people's devices until they next open it, emails already sent, backups and logs.
